OUR TRAINING PROGRAMME

RWE IT UK is responsible for the supply and maintenance of information systems to the RWE business. Our work includes the development, installation and maintenance of hardware, software, phone systems (fixed and mobile), servers, networks, cabling, over 700 applications and supporting 11,000 staff across the organisation.

This year we are offering Higher Apprenticeships in Swindon and Kingswinford to people with a committed interest in Information Technology including the motivation to complete a foundation level degree.

Through the programme our Higher apprentices will gain experience and skills across a wide range of IT business areas.

The apprenticeship will start in September/October 2011 and will take up to 3 years to complete. On completion of the scheme apprentices will move into one of many possible roles within our IT business.

The scheme is open to anyone who is eligible to work in the United Kingdom. Entry onto the scheme will require a minimum of 2 good A level grades, at least 5 GCSEs grad C or above in a range of subjects including Maths and English and a real interest in IT.

Higher apprentices will have a starting salary of £15,500 per year. There are pay reviews every 6 months depending on satisfactory performance. Holiday entitlement will be 25 days per year, and employees will be entitled to join the pension scheme. Apprentices will also be offered a 'golden hello' of £1000 when they start with us.

During the programme apprentices will be expected to attend a local college on either day or block release and achieve:

  • Diploma in Professional Competence
  • Technical Certificate/Diploma
  • Personal Learning and Thinking skills
  • Foundation Level Degree in IT/Computing

Apprentices will also be expected to attend a variety of other training courses to support their apprenticeship programme.
